Discover
the stone, the studio, the story.
The world of Marla Design: the studio behind the stones, the colour language that guides every piece, the stories of how pieces find their wearers, and the practical answers we are often asked.
Some answers live in pictures. Some live in the work. All are gathered here.
The Studio
Stone-led.
London-based.
We begin with a stone. Everything that follows is in service of it. The setting is drawn around the character of a single stone; the metals are selected for how they hold its colour; the proportions are weighted to the way it will be worn.
The studio operates by appointment, from London. Pieces are made by hand, by a small group of specialist craftspeople working in workshops the studio has known for years. The pace is the pace of the work.
Kaleidoscope
Colour, by feeling.
Sapphires sit beside spinels, emeralds beside tourmalines, citrines beside cognac diamonds. Stones are gathered by emotional family rather than by species.
Five families, in the studio's language: Serene, Earthy, Lush, Fiery, Luminous. A way to find the stone before the name.

Things to Know
the questions we hear most often.
How does a commission begin?
With a conversation, in person or by video. We listen first — to the moment, the wearer, the stones already in the family. There is no obligation; the studio is open by appointment.
What does bespoke mean here?
A piece entirely and specifically yours, built around a stone chosen for its character. Five steps: conversation, stone selection, design, crafting, wearing.
Studio Designs or Made With You?
Studio Designs are existing settings finished with a stone chosen together. Made With You is fully bespoke from the first drawing. Both share the same hands at the bench.
How is sizing handled?
Sized in person where possible, or with a ring-sizer posted in advance. Small adjustments inside the first twelve months are part of the studio's care.
What are typical lead times?
Six to eight weeks from confirmation for a bespoke piece. Stone sourcing may add to this. Urgent timelines can sometimes be accommodated; the studio will say so honestly.
What happens at a consultation?
An unhurried hour. We talk through the moment, look at stones together, sketch where it is useful. No deposit, no expectation.
Can a Studio Design be customised?
Within the integrity of the design, yes. Stone, metal, proportions to suit the hand. Larger changes are welcomed as a Made With You commission.
How do I choose a stone?
Slowly, and in company. The studio holds stones across the five Kaleidoscope families and sources specifically when something is being looked for.
