Discover

the stone, the studio, the story.

The world of Marla Design: the studio behind the stones, the colour language that guides every piece, the stories of how pieces find their wearers, and the practical answers we are often asked.

Some answers live in pictures. Some live in the work. All are gathered here.

The Studio

Stone-led.
London-based.

a fine jewellery house with one philosophy at its centre.

We begin with a stone. Everything that follows is in service of it. The setting is drawn around the character of a single stone; the metals are selected for how they hold its colour; the proportions are weighted to the way it will be worn.

The studio operates by appointment, from London. Pieces are made by hand, by a small group of specialist craftspeople working in workshops the studio has known for years. The pace is the pace of the work.

Kaleidoscope

Colour, by feeling.

we organise our stones by the way they feel, not by their name.

Sapphires sit beside spinels, emeralds beside tourmalines, citrines beside cognac diamonds. Stones are gathered by emotional family rather than by species.

Five families, in the studio's language: Serene, Earthy, Lush, Fiery, Luminous. A way to find the stone before the name.

Welcome to Marla Design
Made With You

Welcome to Marla Design

Marla Design was created to make jewellery and objects that matter; pieces you can wear every day, yet treasure for a lifetime. We work with materials that have history, and makers whose skills are shaped by decades at the bench.

Made With You

Real・Soulful・Timeless

At Marla Design, those three words are more than a slogan. They’re a filter for every decision we make; from how a ring sits on your finger to the types of stones we choose - and they show up in pieces you’ll want to wear often (and not want to take off)...

Kaleidoscope - Colour You Can Feel

Every stone carries its own energy: sometimes vivid, sometimes earthy, sometimes luminous, earthy or calm. Kaleidoscope brings these tones together and invites you to follow instinct, emotion or simple curiosity...

Serenity

Serenity

At Marla, we often talk about starting with the story, but in this case, the story was the stone. Rather than forcing it into a familiar silhouette, we let it lead. Everything else, the setting, the scale, the curve of the band, was built around it. We chose 18k yellow gold for its warmth and softness. Then added a ring of ivory ceramic, hand-applied, to offer contrast and calm...

All For Love - The Marla Take on Bridal

Because no two love stories are the same. Our bridal pieces honour intimacy, individuality and the beauty of saying “this is us”. From engagement to forever, All For Love is a full jewellery collection - engagement rings, wedding and eternity bands, jewellery for the day and considered gifts for the people who stand with you.

A Chance Encounter

A Chance Encounter

Some designs are planned. This one simply happened. On the bench: a vibrant kite-cut emerald shield, a sharp diamond triangle, and a luminous briolette diamond—three seemingly unrelated stones, each striking on its own. Slowly, almost instinctively, they found their place together...

Objects with Presence

Marla was born from a lifetime spent with gemstones, design, and craft. Knowledge refined over years of looking closely and choosing with care. It’s an instinct that recognises beauty before it’s polished, understands the worth of a material and knows how to create something to be loved for a lifetime...

Things to Know

the questions we hear most often.

01

How does a commission begin?

With a conversation, in person or by video. We listen first — to the moment, the wearer, the stones already in the family. There is no obligation; the studio is open by appointment.

02

What does bespoke mean here?

A piece entirely and specifically yours, built around a stone chosen for its character. Five steps: conversation, stone selection, design, crafting, wearing.

03

Studio Designs or Made With You?

Studio Designs are existing settings finished with a stone chosen together. Made With You is fully bespoke from the first drawing. Both share the same hands at the bench.

04

How is sizing handled?

Sized in person where possible, or with a ring-sizer posted in advance. Small adjustments inside the first twelve months are part of the studio's care.

05

What are typical lead times?

Six to eight weeks from confirmation for a bespoke piece. Stone sourcing may add to this. Urgent timelines can sometimes be accommodated; the studio will say so honestly.

06

What happens at a consultation?

An unhurried hour. We talk through the moment, look at stones together, sketch where it is useful. No deposit, no expectation.

07

Can a Studio Design be customised?

Within the integrity of the design, yes. Stone, metal, proportions to suit the hand. Larger changes are welcomed as a Made With You commission.

08

How do I choose a stone?

Slowly, and in company. The studio holds stones across the five Kaleidoscope families and sources specifically when something is being looked for.
